This section of the Criminal Code penalizes the recruitment, transportation, harboring, or reception of another person with the intention of exploiting them. The scope of trafficking is broad and encompasses “exploitation of another person in prostitution, other forms of sexual exploitation, forced or compulsory labor or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery or servitude.” Penalties dependent on the circumstances of the offense and range from 8-18 years imprisonment and/or a fifth category fine.
